A Red Headed Fly

A RED HEADED FLY
2006-04-17

Have you ever seen a red headed fly?
Well neither have I
But if you ever see a red headed fly
He'll smile at you with a twink in his eye
How do I know? He told me so.
This red headed fly.

I’ll tell this tale so you will know
How to face each day with a twink in your eye
Well, once there was up high in a tree
Twas told the tale of a bee and a flea
And a chimpanzee - and me.
That’s me, over on the left.

We went to Kalamazoo and Yulamatoo for free
And heard about the guy
So we packed our bags, complete with rags
in case we started to cry
Here’s the bee, the flea, the chimpanzee and me
That’s me, over on the left.

We met a purple cow in Guadalcanal
While lookin for the guy
This cow you see thought he was a tree and we all began to cry
Before we left we were bereft of a Bee.
Now here’s the flea, the chimpanzee, and me.
That’s me, over on the left.

Then we met a twister, who had an unmarried sister
While looking for the fly
And then my friend the flea said goodbye to me
and flew up into the sky
And my friend the flea said goodbye to me
So it was just the chimpanzee, and me
That’s me, over on the left.

So the chimpanzee and me, we went on you see
In search of a red headed fly.
We went and went until we were spent
Lookin for the guy
The Chimp was glum and broke him thumb
That’s me, I think I’m right.

So I went on though my strength was gone
Lookin for the fly
As I lay in my bunk with my feelings all sunk
He called on the phone
Now there’s not even me, for you to see,
I’m gone. I’m not even left.

Well, now then
That settles it.

Have you ever seen a red headed fly?
Well neither have I
But if you ever see a red headed fly
He'll smile at you with a twink in his eye
How do I know? He told me so.
I am that red headed fly.
